Summer 2013  Classes & Workshops

Classically based art  instruction provides solid skills which serve as a springboard for creativity and natural self expression.   Personalized one-on-one instruction within the shared experience of a small group setting provides a supportive and relaxed environment.  Many  students join who have little or no art experience.

Students enroll because they want a more complete art education. By taking the time to develop solid, practical skills, in a logical, progressive manner, students find real progress in their work and build confidence.

Students draw and paint from life as much as possible; still life, landscape, human figure and portraiture. They also learn by copying the works of great masters such as Raphael, Leonardo, Corot, Turner and Sergeant.

Each class begins with a short lecture and a painting or drawing demonstration which lasts approximately ½ hour.

All students work on a personalized project in class. I come around after lecture (and throughout class time) to work with each student individually.

Students of all levels are in each class, beginners who are learning the basics of drawing work in the same class as advanced painting students.  Each class is strictly limited to 6 students  so that everyone  gets the individual instruction they need.
