Classes

Classes in drawing and oil painting are held weekly in a teaching studio in Buckingham, PA. All classes are suited for beginners through intermediate / advanced. Demonstrations and lectures are provided along with individualized projects for each student. Class size is limited to allow plenty of one on one time with the artist. Drawing classes provide a unique blend of classical training with more expressive “organic” exercises to develop an individuals' knowledge of form, light and perspective with expressive lines and movement. Students work in a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and conte crayon, beginning with still life subjects and plaster casts.

Painting classes offer the opportunity to learn about the medium of oil painting from the ground up with an emphasis on classical / academic techniques. For beginners, basics such as materials, composition, basic colour theory, composition and drawing are emphasized through the subject of still life. As students advance, more complex subjects are introduced and they are offered the opportunity to work in plein aire landscape settings. Students are strongly encouraged to explore more expressive and unique techniques, once they have a foundation of drawing and a command of materials.

Class days and times are valid from January, 2010 through the end of May, 2010.

Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Note: As of February, 2010, this session is full, however, you are welcome to contact the artist to be put on a waiting list.

Students may enroll at any time. Classes are purchased in “blocks” of 4, three hour sessions for $160.
