About the Artist

Materese Roche is a contemporary landscape painter working in the realist tradition.  She received her undergraduate degree from Temple University and spent many years working in the corporate word specializaing in finance and  then international human resources.  In 2001, after a long hiatus from the easel, she began to paint in earnest again.  By 2004, she began to exhibit her work and in 2008 began a full time career as an artist and teacher. 

Her award winning work has been exhibited in several well respected group shows including; Phillips Mill, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Gratz Gallery and was honored with a one woman exhibtion at the Philadelphia Sketch Club.   Praised by collectors and critcs for her atmospheric, nearly sensual, landscapes, her paintings are activly sought by collectors on the East Coast. 

About  her work, she says: "My intent is  simply to convey, as honestly as possible,  my experience of nature; the physical, visual and emotional impact it has on me. I hope that in my work, I am able to relay the vital importance of nature in our lives, and how it brings us closer to our humanity."

Ms. Roche lives, paints and teaches in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
